Sundon Reservoir is a large 2 cell underground reservoir near Luton which falls under Affinity Water.
In March this year we were approached by Ward & Burke, who hold a framework with Affinity Water, to carry out the repairs to the existing overbanding as well as install new overbanding.
The works to date have comprised of the preparation and installation of over 3000 linear metres of MasterSeal 930/933 to the internal floors and walls of the reservoir. The wall joints were backed with a WRAS approved joint filler (50mm x 50mm in section). Prior to the works commencing an independent integrity test (spark test) of the existing overbanding in each cell was required to confirm any additional undetected damage. This testing was again required on all the new overbanding! The photos demonstrate the high-quality installation and welding skills for which CRL are widely recognised.
Externally, further works now instructed include additional overbanding to the roof joints and the application of the Triflex ProTect waterproofing system to all overbanded areas on the roof, including all the hatch upstands.
