Grade II Listed Building Rebuild
The HSBC branch in Loughborough was engulfed by a fire on 15 March 2023. This destroyed the roof, most of the second floor and caused significant damage to the lower levels. The branch was closed and, as HSBC own the building, it is to be rebuilt. It is a Grade II listed building and so the reconstruction is to be faithful to the original building.

Working alongside Axis Architecture we have put together a design that replaces the original Queen Post trusses in the roof. These are fairly intricate pieces of carpentry with various straps at the joints to take the tension loads.

A point cloud survey of the remains of the building was carried out. In conjunction with the architect we then developed an analytical model for each truss, based on measurements of the charred remnants. We have also developed a design for the replacement of the roof timbers and second floor.

Construction is expected to commence in late 2024.
