27 November 2015 CRL win major renewables project with Siemens CRL have been in negotiations with Siemens since April this year and we are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the specialist grouting contract for Pen y Cymoedd Windfarm in South Wales valued at £270,000.
Pen y Cymodd Wind Energy Project is a 76 turbine development located on land managed by Natural Resources Wales within Rhondda Cynon Taf between Neath and Aberdare. Once operational the project will generate enough electricity to meet the domestic needs of 140,000 homes per annum. When complete Pen y Cymodd Windfarm will be the largest onshore windfarm in England and Wales.
This contract includes installation of formwork, mixing and pumping of BASF MasterFlow 9300 grout to create the structural connection between the turbine tower and the concrete base.
The works on this project will be carried out by CRL’s renewables team managed from Falkirk Office by Paul Ritchie-Duncan and will run between February and July 2016.
CRL have now successfully completed a systems audit by Siemens and now hold preferred contractor status for specialist grouting works. We are currently in negotiations with Siemens for several other major windfarms throughout the UK and Ireland and are confident that this will lead to a mutually beneficial relationship between Siemens and CRL in the renewables industry.
