CRL has been working collaboratively with our long-term client Fortem Solutions Limited on a large refurbishment project at the Newland Dale Estate in Chesterfield, a major regeneration project which has improved the look, feel and thermal efficiency of homes in the area.
CRL carried out the following works.
- Application of Triflex waterproofing system to existing external asphalt balconies.
- Application of Vulkem Quick coating system to already coated internal balconies.
Whilst on site, we also were asked to add various elements to our scope of works due to the quality of the team’s work, these included.
- Brickwork and structural repairs to the surrounding brickwork façade and surrounding retaining walls.
- Breakout and screed of internal balconies to 4No courts using Cemprotec levelling screed and then application of Triflex waterproofing system.
- Carry out structural works to 4No staircase on site which involved casting and replacing several failed concrete stair treads and then coat using the Fosroc NitokDek waterproofing system.
The project had its issues which were mainly related to weather holding us back and stopping works on site for periods at a time. By all the team pulling together, we managed to overcome these issues and the job finished on time and on budget, only strengthening our relationship with Fortem.
The project value grew as it developed and ended up in the region of £400k due to additional works allocated to us. Going forward we are now undertaking more brickwork and structural repairs for Fortem further expanding the knowledge base of both office and site staff.
